Donnie Darko

I have (after one or two years of wanting to) finally watched the film Donnie Darko. It's an incredible piece of film-making. Jake Gyllenhall is especially good as Donnie, you really believe and feel for his character. I like Frank, he interests me in how Donnie can see him, generally I am interested in the visions that Donnie has because of his condition as a paranoid schizophrenic.

I personally find these notes incredibly interesting. I strangely find that I can link with a few points on there, but I suppose who wouldn't be able to? I also find a lot of things around mentality interesting to look at, learn about and to think about them.

I highly recommend you watch, and closely listen to Donnie Darko. It is an intriguing film with twists and turns that keep you interested until the credits begin to roll.

Vivian Maier

Whilst researching photographers for a Self-Portrait project, I came across the work of Vivian Maier. She was a photographer in the 1950's who has created a series of self-portraits. I find her portraits interesting as most of them involve her taking a photograph of her reflection in a mirror, which is quite a unique way of doing it. Also, in the majority of the photographs, she is either looking at herself, or looking away from the camera, and she rarely smiles or forms an expression on her face.

Just another blog...

As I currently have a writers block when it comes to writing about recent films I have seen on my original blog, (this includes the film Prisoners, which I highly recommend people to watch) I have created this secondary blog to post about inspirational items, images and people that I come across whilst researching.

As I am currently doing Photographic Practice at University, the majority of posts will be artistic, yet others will not. It's just a place for me to post things that I like basically.
